PSYCHODRAMAAbstract
While studying for the Ph.D. degree with Sidney M. Jourard at the University of Florida, the writer was studying simultaneously for a Directorship in Psychodrama, Group Psychotherapy, and Sociometry with Jacob L. Moreno at the World Training Institute for Psychodrama in Beacon, New York. During these studies, similarities were noted between Jourard's concept of persuasion dating back to Aristotle and Moreno's triadic theory of psychodrama, group psychotherapy, and sociometry. Fascination and interest grew in this parallel, resulting in this article, which compares aspects of Aristotle's concept of persuasion, as interpreted by Sidney M. Jourard for the therapeutic setting, with Jacob L. Moreno's triadic theory. Psychodrama has been chosen for emphasis in these comparisons.
