USE OF A CHESS SET: AN APPLICATION OF PSYCHODRAMATIC AND SOCIOMETRIC TECHNIQUES
Keywords:
SOCIOMETRICAbstract
The depth of clients' self-exploration in the therapeutic process has been found to be a critical factor in determining therapeutic outcomes (Egan, 1975; Truax & Carkhuff, 1967). Therefore, therapeutic interventions must necessarily be concerned with the facilitation of clients' self-exploration. Counselors and therapists may rely solely on verbal exchanges between the client and themselves or may employ any number of tools and techniques to help the client get in touch with the real issues and difficulties in his/her life. This paper describes the use of a chess set as an aid to facilitate clients' exploration of self and interpersonal relations.
